Walking the Camino de Santiago:
A Travelogue with Kathleen M. McGuinness
Thursday, December 14, 1 pm -2:30 pm
Enjoy a virtual tour of the most famous walking route in the world—the Camino de Santiago, known in English as the Way of St. James. For more than 1,000 years, pilgrims have made their way across Europe to visit the shrine of St. James the Great, now the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985, the cathedral is the epitome of Romanesque architecture in Spain and the reputed burial place of the apostle Saint James the Great.
Our speaker, Kathleen McGuinness, a 60 something, is a 3rd generation Washingtonian who made a decision while recuperating from four fractured vertebra in her back to set a goal of walking the Camino. One year after a fall, she started out on a 500-mile foot journey, which was written up in the Washington Post. Enjoy Kathleen’s beautiful photographs and find out about her adventures and how she regained her footing in life upon her return. Congratulations to Kathleen for her recent appointment as Commissioner on the Council on Aging for Montgomery County!
This event will be held in the meeting room on the ground floor of Little Falls Library, 5501 Massachusetts Ave, Bethesda, MD, 20816.
