Kathie Libby • Board President

Kathie Libby brings decades of experience in the federal, for-profit, and non-profit sectors to her leadership role at Little Falls Village. Kathie ran her own consulting company for 10 years, training executives in team building and strategic planning. Among her accomplishments: serving three years as president of the board of her church, developing the first training program for the Federal Senior Executive Service, and creating a team-building training for executives in healthcare finance and Social Security. Her strategic planning efforts with the U.S. Public Health Service led to the Centers for Disease Control being renamed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She lives in Glen Echo Heights.

Susan Harding • Vice President

Susan Harding is committed to the village movement, first joining Little Falls Village as a volunteer upon its founding in 2013. Susan brings extensive professional and nonprofit experience to her role as Vice President. A resident of Sumner Village condominiums for more than 20 years, Susan has served as the treasurer of the Sumner Village Community Association for six of those years. She also has served on several non-profit boards, including North American Riding for the Handicapped, Horses & Human Research Foundation, US Hunter-Jumper Association and the Kentucky Horse Park Museum of the Horse. After graduating from Northwestern University, Susan began her business career at the Congressional Research Service in Washington D.C. and McKinsey & Co. in London. Upon earning an MBA from Harvard University, Susan joined Newsweek Magazine in New York City. Continuing her career in magazines, she moved to Maryland in 1989 to manage a small company publishing horse magazines.

Michael Wehr • Vice President

Mike Wehr and his wife Nancy have been members of Little Falls Village since shortly after the Village started and believe an ‘aging in place’ alternative is vitally important for seniors. Mike’s professional career focused on food safety, working for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in international food safety policy, with a Washington, D.C. food safety consultancy organization, and with the State of Oregon as the Administrator of the Oregon Department of Agriculture’s Laboratory Services Division. Over the years Mike has been active in many professional organizations, including serving as president of AOAC International (a scientific organization focused on laboratory operations) and in community service organizations including neighborhood associations, civic committees, and Rotary International club boards. Mike and Nancy lived in Wood Acres for almost 30 years and recently moved to Sumner Village.

Tom Hutton • Treasurer

Prior to joining the Little Falls Village Board, Tom served as Executive Director and Board Chair for a nonprofit that helps middle-aged people find employment. He also has administered the finances, human resources, and property of a religious institution. In prior years. Tom worked on environmental and commercial matters for a major law firm. Following that, he managed an arbitration program and served as the CIO at a financial regulatory agency. Tom grew up in southern Illinois and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1976. He has lived in Bethesda since 1998. Tom speaks, to various degrees, French, Russian, German, Spanish, and bits of other languages, and enjoys music, bicycling, and travel.

Harriet Edleson • Secretary

Harriet Edleson is a journalist and author who writes about retirement, real estate, and travel. Her writing credits include The New York Times, The Washington Post, Kiplinger's Retirement Report, and MarketWatch.com. A native of Tarrytown, NY, she began her career with the Gannett Westchester (NY) Newspapers and the Houston Chronicle. Harriet is the author of 12 Ways to Retire on Less: Planning an Affordable Future (Littlefield & Rowman). She lives in Fort Sumner.

Shoaleh Alai • Board Member

Shoaleh Alai has worked in sales and marketing for more than 20 years, most recently for nearly 11 years as the director of sales for a large assisted living/memory care community in Bethesda. She now helps seniors at Montcordia with high level, concierge care at home. She has been a board member at the Women's Board of the American Heart Association, Greater Washington Region since 2011.

Margaret "Margie" Eulner Ott • Board Member

Margie Eulner Ott, a long-time resident of the Crestview neighborhood, brings years of non-profit management experience to LFV. She served in various positions with Youth for Understanding International Exchange between 1983 and 2013, including as Director of US Programs. She works as a non-profit executive management consultant. At LFV, she developed its Volunteer Training and Volunteer Handbook, and is currently active on its fundraising and operations committees. Since she joined the board in 2015, she has secured several grants for LFV.

Todd Smith • Board Member

As its first Executive Director, Todd Smith launched Little Falls Village in July 2013 and served full time in the position until 2018. Todd’s interest in aging issues was born during 15 years of lobbying Congress and the Administration on behalf seniors and long-term care providers while at the American Health Care Association (AHCA). Prior to joining AHCA in 1996, Smith spent nearly 30 years as a television correspondent working for various television stations across the country. In Washington D.C. he served nine years as a regional correspondent for CBS stations in the Pacific Northwest. Todd and his wife Mary Woods Smith live in the Glen Mar Park neighborhood where they raised two sons.

Doran Flowers • Executive Director

Doran Flowers brings a breadth of nonprofit, transactional legal expertise, and volunteer experience to his role as Executive Director of Little Falls Village since the summer of 2022. Through his service as President of Glen Echo Heights Citizens’ Association, in leadership roles at River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation, co-leader of Girl Scout Troop 3474, coach of a Montgomery County recreational team, and longtime volunteer with the Village, Doran has developed deep connections within the community. His unique combination of experiences, skills, and relationships ensure the Village continues to thrive. A graduate of Georgetown Law, Doran spent 20 years as a board member/staff of the District of Columbia educational nonprofit Turning the Page.

Margaret Warker • Marketing & Operations Director

Having managed the care of her own aging family members, Margaret Warker has a deep commitment to serving seniors. Margaret arranges in-person and virtual programs for the Village in partnership with other organizations, including Little Falls Library. A Bethesda native, she has held various positions at the Biblical Archaeology Society in Washington, D.C., including overseeing educational programs, marketing, and outreach. Her other professional experience in the non-profit and government sectors includes positions at the National Institutes of Health and at Youth for Understanding USA.

Ivy Brown • Member & Volunteer Coordinator

Ivy Brown worked for 13 years as Travel Specialist at C-SPAN TV on Capitol Hill, providing travel and meeting logistics for 350 employees, navigating through three presidential election cycles, six political conventions, two C-SPAN School Bus cross county tours, and numerous documentaries. She took several years off to raise her two now-grown sons. From Beverly Hills, Calif., Ivy has lived in the DMV since 1990. Previously, she has resided in London, Paris, The Hague and Israel, and speaks French, Italian and Dutch. In her free time, Ivy enjoys cooking and traveling with her family.
