Roman Martinez is a partner in the D.C. law firm Latham & Watkins. He is a member of the firm’s Supreme Court & Appellate Practice, focusing primarily on appeals in the Supreme Court of the United States, the U. S. Courts of Appeal, and state appellate courts. Roman has handled civil and criminal matters involving a wide range of constitutional, statutory, and administrative law issues. He has argued nine cases in the Supreme Court, including cases in the fields of the First Amendment to the Constitution, criminal law, civil rights, employment, and civil procedure. He also works on pro bono cases, mainly involving veterans’ affairs. Before joining Latham, Roman was a law clerk to Chief Justice John Roberts.
He will discuss Supreme Court cases current and future, and where the newest justices might be influencing the Court's rulings.
Roman received his B.A. summa cum laude from Harvard; a Master’s in Philosophy from Cambridge University; and his law degree from Yale Law School.
