The Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art (also known as the Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery) has more than 1,100 objects which span from 5000 BCE to the advent of Islam in 651. Art of Afghanistan highlights include ancient Iranian ceramics, one of the finest holdings of Achaemenid and Sasanian silver vessels, and folios of calligraphy and miniature paintings from famous Poets and Philosophers.
